Why Choose Sesembo
Welcome to Sesembo. We pride ourselves on ethical, fair-chasing, walk-and-stalk hunting, and well-managed naturally occurring games.
We harvest free-range animals that have the opportunity to escape and avoid hunters just as much as the hunter’s chance of getting close enough to harvesting an animal. Our conservation plan of selective harvesting ensures that we protect the wildlife population so that future generation hunters have the same experience. Sesembo is a small company managed and guided by an owner with more than ten years of experience in the tourism industry, thus ensuring personal attention to every exclusive group in the camp. Sesembo’s camp is a perfect family-friendly adventure where the young can learn about nature and the importance of conservation hunting.
Sesembo boasts a privately owned hunting area of 37,000 acres, which has been in the family since the 1960s, and sole hunting rights to another 40,000 acres.
Hunting is our Pride and Passion
In the words of Hemmingway, in The Green Hills of Africa 1935, "Now it is pleasant to hunt something that you want very much over a long period, being outwitted, out-maneuvered, and failing at the end of each day, but having the hunt and knowing every time you are out there, sooner or later your luck will change and that you will get the chance that you are seeking."
At Sesembo Hunting Safaris, we offer an exclusive safari adventure in beautiful Namibia, with its vast open landscapes and lush animal life.
The name Sesembo is derived from the Sesame Bush (Sesamothamnus lugardii) found in northern Namibia. The local people use this spectacular bush for its medicinal value.
Just as this bush boasts its unique beauty, standing out among the crowd, Sesembo Hunting Safaris aims to please first-time and passionate lifelong hunters by offering a unique free-range hunting experience guided by an experienced and energetic professional hunter (PH), Ruan Botha.
Sesembo Hunting Safaris Bush Camp
Sesembo boasts a unique tented camp built on the granite hills of Kamanjab. With all the luxuries needed in the bush, make your stay as comfy as possible. The tents consist of 3 comfortable single beds for the father and son hunters or can be joined as a double bed for those couples who love sharing their outdoor adventures. Wood-fed boilers ensure the shower is always warm, and solar power is used to light up your tents and charge all the electronic needs. This is part of Sesembo’s conservation efforts to leave almost no human footprint in nature.
The entertainment lappa consists of a self-help bar, where you can get all the refreshments needed to keep you hydrated in the company of the drinking fowl (Guineafowl), a lounge area for afternoons or early evenings to kick back and relax with a book or drink in hand, and a dining area to indulge in the exquisite traditional meals prepared by the chef.
Outside the entertainment Lappa, we have the bushman TV, where many nights will be spent talking about the hunting day and reliving the stalks and thrills of the day. This is where all the new memories are engraved forever under the star-saturated skies of Namibia.
Sesembo’s latest addition is the swimming pool area, which is located perfectly to watch the animals coming in for a drink at the water hole during the day's heat or have a sundowner while lazing at the end of a long day.
Sesembo’s camp is designed to cater to the rugged hunter who wishes to be close to nature and its sounds and the leisured hunter who prefers a bit of clamping and modern luxuries. Whichever hunting style you prefer, we assure you that at Sesembo, you will have the time of your life.
Professional Service
In 2011, Ruan graduated with a bachelor’s in marketing and tourism management. In 2012, he started as a Junior Assistant lodge manager and by mid-2012 was promoted to Lodge manager, but his heart has always belonged to the hunting industry; thus, in 2013, he started a full-time hunting apprenticeship to gain as much knowledge and understanding about the industry as he possibly could. After qualifying as a PH, he did free-lance guiding across Namibia, building up experience in all hunting fields, the different hunting terrain, and techniques. This led to the inspiration to build the Sesembo bush camp at the end of 2016. Now, more than 10 years later, Sesembo Hunting Safaris is a well-established hunting outfitter, hunting in Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
